7th National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) starts in Kazan

The 7th National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) started in Kazan. This is the biggest competition of professional excellence among students of vocational schools (aged 16-22), and secondary schools (aged 14-16). These educational institutions contribute to the professional orientation of youth and implementation of the best international practices in the Russian system of education.

At the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre, young professionals will compete in 91 Skill, and 23 high-tech Skills included in Future Skills, so-called “professions of the future”. WorldSkills Juniors (aged 14-16) compete in 48 Skills, Competitors of “Skills of the Wise” (aged 50+) – in 26 Skills.  

Besides the Kazan Expo Center, the competition within 6 Skills will be held at 5 other venues: Car Painting – TransTechService (96, Dekabristov street); Cooking, Confectionery, Bakery – International College of Service (58B, Adoratskogo street); Air Transport Service – Kazan International Airport; Print Media Technology – Interregional Centre of Skills (3A, Galeev street), and A-Press Printing House (21/2, Aktaiskaya street).

On 20-24 May, the 7th National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) takes place in Kazan at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre built for the main international event of the year in Russia – WorldSkills Kazan 2019. It will take place on 22-27 August 2019 in the Republic of Tatarstan. 

Six sectors are presented at the National Competition “Young Professionals”: Construction and Building Technology, Creative Arts and Fashion, Information and Communication Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Social and Personal Services, Transportation and Logistics.

More than 1,500 Competitors will take part in the 7th National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia). 1,274 Compatriot Experts will officiate the event. Professionals of all age categories will compete for medals. The best Competitors within 48 Skills will be selected among 363 WorldSkills Russia Juniors (students aged 12-16). Alongside with the general Competition, the 2nd WorldSkills Competition “Skills of the Wise” intended for professionals aged 50 and older will be held. More than 200 Competitors will participate in the event.

In addition, international WorldSkills Competitors will take part in the National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) as invited guests. 131 Competitor from 26 countries including Brazil, Great Britain, Hungary, Vietnam, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, South Korea, Lichtenstein, Mongolia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Taiwan, France, Switzerland, Estonia, Japan, and Morocco, will compare their skills with the level of proficiency of Russians.

The winners and prize holders of the final of the 7th National Competition “Young Professionals” are the candidates for including in the WorldSkills Russia Team. They will get a chance to represent Russia at the WorldSkills Shanghai 2021 and EuroSkills 2022 in Saint Petersburg.

The Conference Programme of the final of the 7th National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) includes more than 30 thematic sessions involving representatives of government authorities, leading Russian companies, educational institutions, HR sector heads. The following issues will be discussed: preparation of Russian National Team, professional standard of industrial growth, development of Expert Community, youth projects, educational workshop and seminars. Absolutely new approaches to the staff training system meeting the needs of the plenary session are expected to be discussed.

The competition is organized by the Union “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia), Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, ANO Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, and ANO Centre for development of skills.
