EuroSkills 2018 was held on 25-29 September in Budapest, Hungary.
EuroSkills is the most widespread competition of professional excellence in Europe for young people under 25 held every two years in one of the 28 WorldSkills Europe member countries. The WorldSkills movement has existed for more than 70 years; however, competitions among European teams have been organized since 2008. The first European competition was held in Rotterdam, and the Swedish capital of Gothenburg became the host of the previous EuroSkills 2016. The sixth EuroSkills Competition was held on 25-29 September 2018 in Budapest. The Competition brought together 600 Competitors from 28 countries of Europe. 48 Competitors from 17 regions of Russia took part in the EuroSkills 2018 and competed for medals in 41 skills.
The WorldSkills Kazan 2019 exhibition stand was presented at the EuroSkills venue. Attendees had a chance to take a virtual tour of Kazan, see the presentation of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 project.
“During 3 days, about 100,000 people attended the EuroSkills venue. Organization of venue attendance is an important experience, which will be useful in the course of preparation for the WorldSkills Kazan 2019. We intend to organize the best competition ever,” said Emil Gubaydullin, WorldSkills Kazan 2019 project leader.
At the end of the closing ceremony, the EuroSkills flag was handed over to the next host country of the Competition – Austria. EuroSkills 2020 will be held in Graz, and EuroSkills 2022 will take place in St. Petersburg. Russian northern capital was unanimously approved by the representatives of 28 WorldSkills Europe member countries at the General Assembly of the European Organization in March 2018.
