The year 2019 declared the Year of Trades in Tatarstan

The year 2019 was declared the Year of Trades in the Republic of Tatarstan. The President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov announced it in his speech addressed to the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan and given on 24 September.

“Less than a year remains before the WorldSkills Competition in Kazan. The accumulated experience, active development of the WorldSkills movement infrastructure in the Republic, the second prize of the team of Tatarstan at the all-Russian competition in 2018 are fundamental premises for the organization of the competition. Representatives of more than 70 countries will compete for the title of the best in more than 50 leading skills. But not only the competition itself, but also the international experience, technologies and skills that we acquire, opportunities to draw the attention of society and business to the demanded professions of the future, to increase their popularity, create conditions for the approval of high professional standards are valuable. That is why the year 2019 has been declared the year of working professions in Tatarstan”, said the President.

WorldSkills Kazan 2019

On 10 August 2015, Russia won the right to host the 45th WorldSkills Competition at the WorldSkills International (WSI) General Assembly. The competition will be held in Kazan on 22-27 August 2019. Its main objectives are to attract the attention of society to the development of professional skills, increase their popularity, and create conditions for the establishment of high professional standards. The representatives of different professions compare this competition with the Olympic Games. About 1500 contestants from 70 countries are expected to attend the Competition and compete in more than 50 skills.

The WorldSkills Kazan 2019 is organized by the WorldSkills International, the Russian operator of the WorldSkills movement – the Union of “Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)” Professional Communities and Workforce Development Agency”, and ANO Directorate for Sports and Social Projects (Kazan).
