WSAD2017 inspection visit briefing held at Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers

Today, 24 October, results of the Tatarstan delegation’s work at the 44th WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi (UAE) were summed up during the briefing of the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers in Kazan.

During her report, Aide to the Tatarstan President, Leila Fazleeva, informed that one of the goals of the Tatarstan delegation’s visit to the Emirates was to address the issues that will be topical during the 45th WorldSkills Competition in Kazan in 2019.

“The issues related to logistics, transportation, accommodation and catering services for competitors, as well as skill competition area layout were addressed during the visit,” Leila Fazleeva concluded. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, Andrey Pominov, also added that WorldSkills Kazan 2019 is important not only as a career guidance event but also as “a tool designed to modernise the vocational training system in the republic and in Russia in general”.

Deputy Director General of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, Emil Gubaydullin, took questions from journalists on the readiness of the Kazan Expo WorldSkills Arena, the key venue of the forthcoming Competition.

“During their inspection visit to Kazan in late August 2017, the WorldSkills International Secretariat expressed no doubts that the venue will be commissioned in time. On 1 July 2018, we plan to complete the construction of the main pavilions and to start assembling temporary infrastructure for the Competition. All the requirements that we need to meet, e.g. over 100,000 square metres of exhibit areas, will be constructed for the Competition by that time,” Emil Gubaydullin said.

“The task that we set for ourselves is to prepare practically the entire infrastructure until May 2019 because during this time the final of the Russia Skills National Competition will be hosted at the Kazan Expo WorldSkills Arena. This competition will serve as a test event. Its organisation will be as close to the WorldSkills Competition as possible,” Emil Gubaydullin summed up.

As was reported earlier, the 44th WorldSkills Competition was held in Abu Dhabi (UAE) on October 14-19. Up to 1,300 young people from 59 countries came to the host city to compete in 52 skills. It was the first time that the Russian team, made of 52 competitors, was represented across all skills of the Competition.

The next Competition, WorldSkills Kazan 2019, will take place in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan (Russia) on 29 August-3 September 2019.
