Less than 2 weeks left to go until the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 volunteers team embark on a trip to the WorldSkills Competition which will take place in Abu Dhabi on 14-19 October 2017. Russian delegation of 54 volunteers will represent the Kazan Volunteers movement at the world level.

The volunteers have just finished all the necessary orientation trainings held in the run-up to the Competition. They learned about the WorldSkills International, Competitions, WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 programme and its key events: competitions, business programme, ceremonies etc.

The announcement of the functions and tasks for the forthcoming event was the most anticipated part part of the meeting. The Abu Dhabi team has entrusted to the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 volunteers very important functions - 42 people will work as Skill Competition Assistants and 12 volunteers will be engaged in Delegate Team Support: Protocol, Guides, Communication with Partners, Media, Accreditation, and others.

Deputy Director General of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects Emil Gubaidullin highlighted the importance of such trips for the Organising Committee: "First of all, the volunteers are supposed to show their excellence performing tasks they are charged with. But we also hope they will be able to share with us the unique information and their experience, as they are lucky to see the inner part of the Competition. No official gets such a chance. That's why we place high expectations and entrust serious tasks to our volunteers. For Kazan, the Competition in Abu Dhabi is the last call before 2019. With the end of October we will be in the spotlight, and our task is to represent the country, Republic and city in the best light, to show our hospitality and professionalism."

A special functional training for volunteers led by Jane Stokie, Director of Skills Competitions, WSI, took place previously in Kazan during the WorldSkills International (WSI) inspection visit. The volunteers learned about their future functions at the Competition, discovered the peculiarities of the event organizational process, and were briefly instructed on the Competition venue and an informational system, enabling a fast communication and assessment.
