During the inspection visit in Kazan on August 23, the delegation led by David Hoey, CEO WorldSkills International, visited the construction site of the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre, which will serve as a stage to the WorldSkills Kazan 2019.

"I am very impressed. The Kazan venue meets all the world class requirements. The latest technologies are used in the construction. I think that Kazan and the project developers can be proud of themselves. The Exhibition Centre will have a positive impact on the image of Tatarstan and Russia," said David Hoey after the review of the site.

The venue is expected to bring together more than 1,600 Competitors, more than 1,500 Experts, and 250,000 spectators during the Competition.

According to Emil Gubaidullin, Deputy Director General of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, a great number of schoolchildren is expected to come visit the event, which will serve them as a vocational guidance. The organizers are also ready to welcome the representatives of all kinds of industries "from Russia and Tatarstan as well as from other countries, because for many of them this Competition is a job fair, where they look for the employees".

"In addition, there is also a big business programme, which brings together the representatives of the major international companies in the framework of partnership with WorldSkills International. It is a platform which enables networking and discussion of vocational training innovations and tendencies," added Emil Gubaidullin.

Robert Minnegaliev, Director General of the Kazan Expo, reported that the construction is carried out as scheduled. "All the issues – technological and systemic – are resoved. We're right on schedule, 35-40% of work is already done.

The Kazan Expo is on a plot of 74,8 hectares near the Kazan International Airport. The venue will feature three exhibition pavilions and will be connected with the airport and Aeroexpress Station by a covered passageway.

The Kazan Expo construction was launched to host WorldSkills Kazan 2019. Specially for the Competition, the additional temporary constructions will be set up on the territory of the Exhibition Centre. In the run-up to the Competition in 2019, the venue is expected to play host to test events.
