The Russian Government is confident that Russia is ready to host WorldSkills Kazan 2019. Delivery of this event will help change the vocational training system of the country. This was announced today in the White House by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova during a meeting with President of WorldSkills Simon Bartley, WSI Chief Executive Officer David Hoey, and Director General of the Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia) Union, Robert Urazov.
Pursuant to the Presidential Message of Vladimir Putin, Russia intends to join the top five world's leading economies. Tatyana Golikova believes that the development of WorldSkills movement in Russia will contribute to achieving this goal.
"Thanks to our preparation to the competition we can see that the scales start tipping in favour of technical fields. The WorldSkills demonstration exam is an independent evaluation of the vocational training," noted the Deputy Prime Minister. "WorldSkills standards implementation into vocational education system changes vocational training in our country." This is why the Government will support the national project that implements WorldSkills standards before 2024 as well as after.
"During our meeting in 2015, Vladimir Putin admitted how important it is for Russia to host WorldSkills Kazan 2019," said President of WorldSkills, Simon Bartley. He underlined that after hosting this Competition in Finland, Brazil, and Korea Republic the number of people engaged in technical education has significantly risen.
"The economic impact of WorldSkills Kazan 2019 will overcome that of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™," ensured Simon Bartley. The same benefit was witnessed after WorldSkills Competition in London in 2011 that followed the Olympics.
We recall that Kazan was granted the right to host the 45th WorldSkills Competition after winning a vote by the WSI General Assembly in Sao Paulo (BRA), on August 10, 2015. The Competition will take place in Kazan in August 2019. The main aim of the competition is to attract the attention of society to vocational occupations, increase their prestige and provide the conditions for the increasing professional standards. As for the representatives of vocational occupations, the Competition equals the Olympic Games.
