Cooperation of state, business, educational organizations in talent development issues under discussion at National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia)

As part of the 7th National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia), a round table conference “Talent development: cooperation of state, business, educational organizations” took place in Kazan.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Rafis Burganov, Director General of the Union “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) Robert Urazov, HR Director of Rosatom State Corporation Tatyana Terentyeva, Director General of Kuka Russia Dmitry Kapishnikov, Rector of Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev – KAI Albert Gilmutdinov, HR Director of PAO Kazan Helicopter Plant Marina Maryushina, HR Director of SAP CIS Vera Solomatina, and Head of Quantum Computer Intelligence Project of Russian Quantum Centre Alexey Fedorov took part in the round table conference.

The main topic of the round table conference was a human-centered approach, or, in other words, the special value of talents in modern economic reality.

“In today’s conditions, people themselves are responsible for their development. Imagine the world of the future, in which there are no labor contracts, labor law, labor codes, trade unions, staff services. In this world, there are billions of people – entrepreneurs and companies that try to reach an agreement. If we are talking about production companies and service industry, a person already predetermines the economic value. You cannot hire a standard person who will make a non-standard product. This is impossible by default”, Robert Urazov noted.

Tatyana Terentyeva focused on the initiative “Mission: Talent – from human resources to talents” implemented by the State Corporation in conjunction with the “Young Professionals (Worldskills Russia)” Union and BCG. Its goal is to find tools to solve the problem of personnel gap and create a global ecosystem for talent development.

“The initiative “Mission: Talent – from human resources to talents” is not a one-time project, but a long-term programme that starts with a joint study and large-scale discussion with the participation of our partners representing the main stakeholders of the labor market: government, business, and educational system. We want to offer a special online database platform with the best world practices of personnel development in the conditions of serious economic, technological and social changes that modern society is experiencing”, said Tatyana Terentyeva.

“Nowadays, the employer can no longer consider people only as a resource that may and should be controlled. Today, we need cooperation to achieve synergy. And for this purpose, employing companies must clearly understand and decide on what skills employees should have in current circumstances and in the long term, keeping in mind the fact that each employee is an individual with his own attitude to the career path”, said Marina Maryushina.

According to Dmitry Kapishnikov, technological breakthrough companies need to help educational institutions providing them with materials and information. “Business should be a driving force in education, form trends, and training methods”, he said.

The 7th National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) takes place on 20-24 May in Kazan. This is the biggest competition of professional excellence among students of vocational schools (aged 16-22), and secondary schools (aged 14-16). These educational institutions contribute to the professional orientation of youth and implementation of the best international practices in the Russian system of education.
