At the moment, 5,748 candidates from 57 countries applied to join the 45th WorldSkills Kazan 2019 volunteer programme. Volunteers recruiting centres operating across 15 regions of our country are carrying out information campaigns: more than 17,000 people learned about the programme during the last 3 months thanks to various presentations and activities. And this is only the beginning, as the summer and the active forum campaign are underway.

As usually, most of the applicants are women – the gender ratio of boys to girls is approximately 1:3. The most experienced candidates (2 candidates are born in 1939) have an impressive eventful background which they will share with the other generations – the youngest candidate for the position turned 14 years old this March.

Regional partners of the volunteer programme significantly contribute to the information campaign – from the beginning of the year, WorldSkills Kazan 2019 volunteers recruiting centres are actively engaged in promotion of the event among the youth and general public in their and neighboring regions. More than 150 various activities including social activities, educational seminars, interactive presentations, lessons etc. are held across the country. Over 200 publications in public and social media covered the opening and functioning of the recruiting centres.

The first record setters are already appearing among these centres: following the outcome of the first quarter of 2018, Krasnodar Krai, the Chuvash Republic and Moscow take the lead with the biggest numbers of applications. The competition to get the volunteer position in these regions is already 8-10 people to 1.

As we informed earlier, the volunteers recruiting centres are starting to work in different members of the Russian Federation since February 2018. To date, 14 centres out of 15 are already open. Irkutsk Oblast, the Udmurt Republic, and Khabarovsk Krai joined the team in the beginning of April. The recruiting centre of Vladivostok will wrap up the opening streak.

The plans for the summer 2018 include the information campaign aimed to promote the Competition and its volunteer programme on regional and federal level, as well as the continuation of the programme among candidates that will last until 31 December 2018. The next stage of the volunteer programme – interviews and selection of candidates – will start in autumn 2018.
