After actively supporting the WorldSkills Competition for the past ten years, Saint-Gobain international group of companies continues this good tradition by partnering with WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Competition.
The objective of WorldSkills competitions is to raise global professional standards through supporting young specialists and to encourage interest in advanced technologies in various industries.
Saint-Gobain shares this mission. Gary Condon, medallist in WorldSkills London 2011 in Plastering and Drywall Systems skill and a representative on WorldSkills Champions Trust, is an employee of Gyproc in the UAE. Gyproc is a Saint-Gobain brand, one of the top manufacturers of gypsum construction materials in the world.
This year, the company provides construction materials for three skills: Plastering and Drywall Systems, Bricklaying, and Wall and Floor Tiling. The total cost of its Weber, Gyproc, and Isover products (gypsum boards, insulation, dry mortars, and masonry) exceeds RUB 1.7 million.
Saint-Gobain’s booth includes the Try-A-Skill zone for kids and students. The visitors will be able to try a finisher’s job and get an insight into the different professions. The zone will present seven blocks of various topics, from installing gypsum board partitions to testing sound-filtration systems.
The longstanding collaboration between Saint-Gobain and WorldSkills led to the discovery and recruitment of many new talents. The company plans to further help young professionals develop expertise, raise the prestige of the skills professions amongst young people, and promote innovative solutions in construction and finishing work.
