MegaFon announces intention to become a digital partner of WorldSkills Kazan 2019

MegaFon PAO will act as a digital partner of the 45th WorldSkills Competition, which will be held in Kazan on 22-27 August 2019. The Operations Director of MefaFon Anna Serebryanikova, General Director of the Union of “Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)” Professional Communities and Workforce Development Agency” Robert Urazov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Information and Communication of the Republic of Tatarstan Roman Shaykhutdinov signed the Agreement of Intent on 12 September 2018 during the Eastern Economic Forum.

The President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov attended the signing ceremony.  

“Skills for the Future” is the motto that is associated with the new partner of the WorldSkills Competition. MegaFon is aimed at creating a digital economy of the future in Russia, the development of which mainly depends on human resources. The company has considerable experience in the training of true professionals and is ready to share their knowledge. The corporate university of the provider has created over 800 educational programs. During the existence of the company, employees have completed about 1 million training courses and attended skills development workshops. They have an opportunity to improve their proficiency in an innovative environment, effectively interact and focus on ambitious tasks.  

“Our Republic has strong collaborative relationships with MegaFon. The company has acted as a partner of projects implemented in Tatarstan, including international ones, many times. We are happy to note the fact that we continue working together, this time during the WorldSkills Competition,” the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov admitted.

“Modern technologies develop rapidly changing many areas of our lives, including education. New professions replace the traditional ones; in some fields, robots and artificial intelligence supplant people. In order to allow young professionals to adapt to the requirements of time, it is necessary to change the educational process, too. The task of business and state is to change the approach to education and make the process more personalized in order to give young generation representatives an opportunity to realize their fullest potential in professions of the future”, Anna Serebryanikova commented on the agreement signature. “The World Skills Competition is an important platform for sharing experience and discussing views on digital education”.  

“An important component of the successful implementation of such a large-scale event as the WorldSkills Competition, which will gather representatives from more than 70 countries in Kazan, is stable communication and high-speed Internet access. Despite the network loading issues, our task is to ensure seamless services”, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Informatization and Communications Roman Shaykhutdinov added.  

About WorldSkills Kazan 2019

On 10 August 2015, Russia received the right to host the 45th WorldSkills Competition at the General Assembly of the WorldSkills International (WSI). The Competition will take place in Kazan on 22-27 August 2019. Their main goals are to attract the attention of society to the development of professional skills, increase their popularity, and arrange the environment for the creation of high professional standards. For the representatives of different professions, these competitions are comparable with the Olympic Games. About 1500 participants from 70 countries are supposed to compete in more than 50 skills during in Kazan.

WorldSkills Kazan 2019 is organized by the WorldSkills International nonprofit organization, Russian WorldSkills operator – Union of “Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)” Professional Communities and Workforce Development Agency” and ANO Directorate for Sports and Social Projects (Kazan).
