Jaime Saavedra: “Every state’s investment in development of the younger generation made today is a contribution to the future global human capital”
19.07.2019, 16:58
Jaime Saavedra, who leads the Education Global Practice at the World Bank Group, will become one of the honoured guests at the panel “A world at risk: developing the skill sets to endure, adapt, and thrive” to open the WorldSkills Conference 2019.
Throughout his professional career, he has led work in the areas of poverty and inequality, education and labour markets.
Jaime Saavedra pays particular attention to the system of education and to a teacher’s role in it. In his opinion, every country has committed and enthusiastic teachers, who enrich and change the lives of millions of children. The future of our children and our countries depends on the effectiveness and involvement of our teachers. It is the teacher who can motivate and drive children, preserve and leverage knowledge, and promote a child’s self-esteem and awareness in learning.
Strikingly, substantial progress can be made if everyone in the system of education merely performs their own function. We cannot just rely on heroes’ efforts in the age of the global changes, which are underway today. The pace of technology development requires using new approaches in education, especially at the fundamental pre-school and school stages, believes Jaime Saavedra.
Since every state’s investment in the development of the younger generation made today is a contribution to the future global human capital.
