Tickets for WorldSkills Kazan 2019 ceremonies to go on sale at the end of May

100 days before the start of the 45th WorldSkills Competition are left. On this occasion, the press briefing involving Rafis Burganov, Prime Minister and Minister of Education of the Republic of Tatarstan, Emil Gubaydullin, Project Executive of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019, and Karina Salikova, Deputy Director General of the “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) Union was held at Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre.

“Now we are getting past the point of 100 days before the 45th WorldSkills Competition and entering final straight. Preparation in terms of competition venues, city infrastructure, services for all client groups is underway”, noted Rafis Burganov, starting the briefing.

1,377 Competitors from 67 countries are expected to compete in 56 Skills, more than 1,300 Experts will officiate the event. Building of the competition site will start in August. On 16 August, first client groups will arrive, and departures are scheduled for 28 August.

“Kazan Expo is ready for holding such a large-scale event – main and temporary infrastructure will be put to work. The Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre has already hosted several large-scale events. The final of the 7th National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) will become a key test project for our team and allow to check the degree of readiness of all functional areas. The competition will kick off in one week, it will take place from 21 to 23 May”, noted Emil Gubaydullin.  

1,519 Competitors, 363 Juniors will take part in the final of the 7th National Competition “Young Professionals”. 1,569 Experts will officiate the event. According to Karina Salikova, 152 Competitors from 26 countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Great Britain, Hungary, Vietnam, Germany, India, Italy, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Korea, Lichtenstein, Morocco, Mongolia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Taiwan, France, Switzerland, Estonia, and Japan will come to the event. Many foreign guests are expected to attend the competition.

A range of services will be tested during the national competition. “We will check the rate of audience streams, test peak load capacity at the welcome desks, transport, check points etc. Of course, test events are important for the synchronization of all venue systems at peak hours and team work – building of interior lines of communications, involvement of staff and volunteers in operational venue activity. Moreover, several parties including organizers, partners, and contractors will be engaged”, Emil Gubaydullin said.

More than 5,500 people will be accommodated in the WorldSkills Village. Representatives of national delegations, FutureSkills and WorldSkills Juniors delegations, technical staff of partners, observers, and 500 Russian and international volunteers will be among them.  

The WorldSkills Conference Programme will feature traditional conference for more than 1,500 participants from all over the world, and Ministerial Summit. Extra day will be devoted to the national track. 600 leaders of change and national educational ecosystem development projects will gather there.  

Opening ceremony of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 will take place on 22 August 2019, closing ceremony is scheduled for 27 August 2019. Both ceremonies will take place at Kazan Arena Stadium. Theatrical performances will unveil the history of professional excellence in the world. Tickets for the ceremony will go on sale at the end of May. Ticket price varies from 300 to 1,500 rubles. “The WorldSkills village will be upgraded significantly: cosmetic renovation of all residential buildings, arrival of new furniture are planned for the nearest future. First residents settled in almost 9 years ago. All buildings have been occupied for this period. Thanks to the WorldSkills Competition, students will get an opportunity to live in renovated rooms. Partially, it can be considered as the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 heritage”, admitted Emil.
