The official presentation unveiling a set of medals for the 45th WorldSkills Competition took place today in Kazan, Russia.
The medals’ design is based on the national Tatar symbols – a tulip and a traditional ornament. The ornament embodies the rich and ancient culture of the Tatar nation and represents professional excellence, the core of the WorldSkills movement. The medals are made of an alloy of special zinc-based metals. The medals are covered with gold, silver, and bronze galvanic coating and packed in a presentation box.
The design was created in cooperation with the Agency for the Development of Professional Communities and Skilled Workers (WorldSkills Russia), Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, and Dialog-conversiya Association, the official WorldSkills Kazan 2019 licensee.
Overall, the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Competition Organizer produced 275 gold, silver, and bronze medals and 80 Best of Nation medals, as well as over 700 commemorative medals that will be presented to those who contributed to the staging of WorldSkills Kazan 2019.
“The WorldSkills Competition is a unique opportunity for young people to demonstrate their talent. The Competition will bring together the best professionals from all over the world, yet only the best of the best will be awarded the medals. These trophies will have their true value only when they are in the medallists’ hands,” said WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Project Executive Emil Gubaydullin.
“The Competition medals are given to winners ranking first, second, and third, but WorldSkills has two more types of official awards. Professionals scoring above 700 points will get a Medallion of Excellence in recognition of the Competitor’s performance by the international community. We also have this tradition to honour the top scorer of each national team with the Best of Nation award,” notes Karina Salikova, WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Project Executive at the Young Professionals Union (WorldSkills Russia).
WorldSkills Kazan 2019
WorldSkills Kazan 2019 will be held from August 22-27. Close to 1,300 competitors from 63 WorldSkills Member countries and regions will compete in 56 skills. This will be the largest international event in Russia in 2019.
Kazan was awarded the right to hold the event in 2015, after a vote of WorldSkills Members. WorldSkills Russia works in all 85 regions of the country and is one of the priority projects for the federal government in the field of personnel training and economic development.
