In April, the organizing team of the 45th WorldSkills Competition 2019 in Kazan wrapped up a whole streak of events taking place across Russia. The last recruiting centres were opened in Irkutsk Oblast, the Udmurt Republic, Khabarovsk and Primorsky Krai.

Irkutsk Regional Volunteer Centre became the official partner of the volunteer programme – an appropriate agreement was signed on April 3 in the government. Honorable guests of the ceremony – Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs, Tatyana Shemetova, Head of the city department of culture, Vitaly Baryshnikov and others – also expressed their support of the operation of the recruiting centre. "I am sure that Kazan has made the right choice of the partner. There are enthusiastic people with blazing hearts at our volunteers centre who demonstrate by deeds their professionalism and will to work for results. We know that we will succeed and we wish the very best to our centre on its way to the major event. We will support everyone engaged in it by all means."

Another partner of the Directorate is Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University. Its volunteers centre will also operate as a WorldSkills Kazan 2019 volunteers recruiting centre. The agreement was signed on 5 April. The traditional ribbon cutting ceremony followed the signing of the documents. Together with Rector of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University, Valery Grakhov, the red ribbon was cut by Deputy Director General of the Directorate, Alexander Karpov. The opening ceremony also featured a students concert and a networking with the activists of the volunteers centre.

Khabarovsk Krai is represented by the Regional Youth Initiatives Centre. The agreement was signed on 10 April. The bid of Khabarovsk Krai was one among the leaders during the Open All-Russian Contest for the right to host the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 volunteers recruiting centre. During their visit, the representatives of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects visited the centre and examined its infrastructure, held a working meeting with its managers, took part in the press conference for regional media outlets, and learned more about the preparation for the National WorldSkills Competition that will be held in Khabarovsk in 2020.

It is highly symbolic that the final city to open its recruiting centre is Vladivostok. The most Eastern recruiting centre was opened on 11 April. Warm and friendly relationships between volunteers of Tatarstan and Primorsky Krai date back to 2012, when a big team of volunteers from Tatarstan took part in the delivery of APEC Russia 2012 in Vladivostok. Since then, during 2013 Summer Universiade, FINA World Championships 2015, and World Festival of Youth and Students 2017 the teams of Tatarstan and Primorsky Krai worked together on the fruitful delivery of the events. WorldSkills Competition will be no exception. Emphasizing the importance of the long-standing and fruitful cooperation, Acting Governor of Primorye Andrey Tarasenko awarded Deputy Director General of the Directorate, Alexander Karpov, with commendation letter for the personal contribution into development of the volunteer movement. Another commendation letter, signed by Dmitry Bratynenko, addressed the Kazan Volunteers movement for their long-term cooperation.

As we have informed, a series of official events dedicated to the opening of WorldSkills Kazan 2019 volunteers recruiting centres took place in 15 regions of the Russian Federation from February to April 2018. The plans for the summer 2018 include the information campaign aimed to promote the Competition and its volunteer programme on regional and federal level, as well as the continuation of the programme among candidates that will last until 31 December 2018. To date, more than 5,000 candidates from 57 countries applied to become a volunteer. The next stage of the volunteer programme – interviews and selection of candidates – will start in autumn 2018.
