A delegation of 55 Russian volunteers will come to the UAE to join the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 team. The best of the best were granted a right to take part in the delivery of the major Competition among the young professionals from all over the world - WorldSkills Competition - as Skills Assistants.

Jane Stokie, Director of WSI Skills Competitions, led a special functional training for the volunteers on the side-lines of the WorldSkills International Secretariat inspection visit. The volunteers learned about their future functions and services provided by the local Organising Committee of the Competition, discovered the peculiarities of the event organizational process, and were briefly instructed on the Competition venue and an informational system, enabling a fast communication and asessment.

Miriam McCulloch, Senior Education & Volunteer Coordinator of the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 team joined the session via video call and presented the Volunteer Managers, uniform, told about accommodation, accreditation, shifts scheduling, and many other services.

"I found the training very helpful. Networking with Jane and Miriam helped us plunge into the atmosphere of the forth coming Competition while we are still here, in Kazan. We have serious tasks ahead us, we will work on the competition sites alongside the Experts and Managers, we will see with our own eyes the what a "world standard" is, and will get to know the real professionals.  I'm looking forward to this trip and I am sure this will not be only a great volunteer experience for our team, but an opportunity for me personally to sharpen my skills as a future linguist," shared his thoughts Ramis Sabirzyanov, student of Kazan Innovative University named after V. G. Timiryasov (IEML).

The most experienced and active volunteers of the Republic of Tatarstan joined the delegation. Before the trip the team has a number of other educational and motivational trainings. Their experience at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 will be useful and helpful at the preparation of WorldSkills Kazan 2019. After WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 it will be the turn of Kazan to shine in the spotlight as the next host-city of the WorldSkills Competition.
